Brittany Swingle didn’t plan on a career in HR. In fact, when she was a child, she wanted to be a teacher. But reality hit when she got up in front of a classroom: She quickly discovered that teaching wasn’t her calling, but she loved to help people grow and develop. That led her down the path to HR. Today, she’s HR Partner for Marketing and Finance at Anaplan.
In her free time, Brittany stays active with outdoor activities like hiking and running. She also plays volleyball every Monday with “overly competitive people,” which, for her, is a fun way to start off the week.
What do you do at Anaplan, and how does your work impact Anaplan users?
I help with all things people-related, including hiring, onboarding, developing, retaining, and motivating our employees. I make sure that our talent strategy and workforce planning align with the company’s overall organizational objectives. I support people in multiple departments and help them to focus on the amazing things they do—because their work is what impacts Anaplan users!
How did you become interested in technology?
I’ve always had a high-level interest in the possibilities technology provides for people, but I became especially interested in technology when I joined Google in 2008. During my time there, I was lucky enough to work with brilliant people who were coming up with “moonshot” ideas—ideas that, due to innovation and technology, were making a significant impact on some of the largest challenges we face as a society. That’s pretty amazing.
What is your favorite part of working with your team? And at Anaplan?
My favorite part? Well, the people are my favorite. I’m fortunate to work with such incredibly smart and capable people. My manager, colleagues, stakeholders, partners, and leadership team support and encourage me to challenge myself and learn something every day.
Finally, what is your favorite thing to plan? Either in your personal life or Anaplan life?
I love traveling and enjoy planning future trips. In fact, I’m looking forward to planning my next trip to the Cayman and Bahama islands next summer!
