You Asked, We Answered: How To Model With Timescales

you-asked-we-answered

In our series “You Asked, We Answered” we address questions that pop up often on our Community page.

Question:
How do I move from a model with timescale to a model without timescale?

Answer:
You can use the SELECT function to tell the module what “item” in the time scale you’re referring to. For example, if my line item “Revenue” in “Module A” has time as a dimension, and my line item “TotalYear” in “Module B” doesn’t, the formula for  “TotalYear” in “Module B” would be = Module A.Revenue[SELECT: Time.’FY14′] to grab the full year value from fiscal 2014.
