MIAMI, June 3, 2026 — Anaplan, a leading AI-driven scenario planning and analysis platform designed to optimize decision-making in today’s complex business environment, today announced that Indiana University (IU) has selected Anaplan to modernize its core financial planning processes and establish a single source of truth for institution-wide planning.

Managing a $4.5 billion operating budget across nine campuses and more than 400 users, IU faced significant challenges with its legacy systems. The university’s disconnected applications required staff to manually update salary and position changes for more than 23,000 employees and reconcile inconsistent reporting processes between campuses. Plus, without the ability to allocate funds based on the actual timing of income and expenses, leaders often faced challenges achieving the level of precision and agility needed for informed decision-making.

To solve this, IU selected Anaplan’s cloud-native, AI-driven platform to create a single, integrated environment for financial planning, workforce budgeting, and multi-year forecasting.

Anaplan will also connect IU's multiple on-premises enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, which will allow the university to transform a complex, decentralized budget process into a modern, agile planning environment that aligns capital with strategic priorities.

As Indiana University continues to evolve, we’re committed to building a more connected, data-driven approach to budgeting and planning. With Anaplan, our teams will finally be able to shift away from time-consuming, manual data entry and focus on what matters most: strategic analysis. This partnership will empower us to actively model multi-year scenarios, evaluate funding changes, and deliver the high-value insights needed to guide our university forward.
Brett Dunn, Associate Vice President for Budget and Planning, Indiana University

IU will transform its financial management in three key areas:

  • Core Budget Construction: Replacing the legacy system to automate the annual operating budget build, including salary increases and position budgeting.
  • Reporting Standardization: Deploying standardized, real-time budget-to-actuals reports with drill-down capabilities across all campuses.
  • Integrated Forecasting: Connecting budget development with multi-year financial planning, including tuition forecasting and scenario modeling.
We’re thrilled to be working with a world-class institution like Indiana University. By bringing together financial, workforce, and operational data in a single platform, Anaplan helps institutions like IU accelerate informed decision-making, positioning them to outpace change in an increasingly complex environment.
