What does a career path look like at Anaplan? It’s often a unique and evolving journey, full of opportunity. Welcome to Anaplan Growth Journeys, our series exploring the distinct professional paths of our people. Here, we share stories of how Anaplanners develop as leaders, connect with our culture, and make an inspiring impact.
For Jofi Alexander, expanding Anaplan’s footprint across Africa wasn't just about driving close to 2x regional growth — it was about building a deeply human ecosystem of trust, partnership, and mentorship. As Anaplan’s lead in Africa, Jofi's personal approach helped turn a largely untapped market into a vibrant community of Anaplan advocates.
Resilience and uncharted territory
With three decades of enterprise technology experience, Jofi’s path pivoted when a recruiter introduced him to Anaplan.
"I told the recruiter I only had 10 minutes to chat," he recalls. "But within moments of seeing the platform, I recognized something familiar. Anaplan was solving the exact challenges I had envisioned for the industry nearly 20 years earlier."
After five successful years as an account executive in the UK, Jofi took on the challenge of exploring Anaplan’s potential in the Middle East and Africa. His strategic relationship-building drove nearly 2x growth across the region, including landmark enterprise wins like the Kamoa Copper financial planning transformation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Innovation rooted in empathy
For Jofi, growth is deeply human. On an early visit to Cape Town, he met a young Uber driver who was working in a university finance team to supplement his income. During the ride, Jofi offered to mentor him if he was willing to put in the work.
Today, that individual is Anaplan Level 2 certified and working at Deloitte.
“It gave me inspiration, to see the determination of this person I just met," Jofi shares. "It's not just about his career change; it's a change for the whole family because it has a ripple effect.”
That experience inspired a growing Africa-based mentoring program where Jofi and others help young professionals gain digital economy skills while advocating for the Anaplan platform.
The power of culture
Jofi’s leadership philosophy is deeply shaped by Anaplan’s values-driven culture, as well as his late father, Dr. Nicholas Alexander. "Watching his unwavering dedication to his patients and colleagues taught me that true leadership is rooted in compassion and service.”
For Jofi, a career at Anaplan is never passive. “It’s not something you wait for. It’s something you actively create.” His advice for growing your career is simple: “Own it.”
