Spain-based integrated energy company Repsol manages about 100 energy assets worldwide, each with a unique financial contract. Getting data together for economic analysis was slow and manual, and updating commodity prices across all assets could take the planning team a week. Now, all contracts live in a single Anaplan model that Repsol owns and manages internally. Performance management across the portfolio is simplified, and one person can update commodity prices in an hour.

We can have just one single integrated model, which enables us to run the economics for all the portfolio at the same time.

Marcos Hurtado: Repsol Group is an energy company. It is a fully integrated international company which dedicates its activity from exploration and production of hydrocarbons to energy and power generation and renewables.

In Repsol, we are here to explore and discover all infinite possibilities of energy so we can all advance.

We use Anaplan in two main areas: performance management for short term forecasting, and planning.

Our business is based on ~100 assets. Each specific asset has its own economic contract.

So what we've done is model every single contract into Anaplan so that we can have just one single integrated model, which enables us to run the economics for all the portfolio at the same time.

Before using Anaplan, a simple exercise like a change in commodity price meant putting all the planning organization to work during two weeks to get everything updated. Now, with Anaplan, we can run it in just one hour, and just one person.

What I like the most from Anaplan is that you can develop models and solutions to your pain points. The model that we have today is way different than what we had at the very beginning, and [that] evolution has been done internally, without any help.

If you think about using Anaplan, don't think it is an IT solution. It is a business solution. Make it yours. Develop it from the inside. Think about the pain points you need to face. Don't think about the solution

I'm Marcos Hurtado, E&P Planning Director at Repsol, and we plan with Anaplan.
